In 1220, a druggist from Verdun had the happy idea of putting a layer of sugar and honey on the almonds that he used to make his cakes and harden everything in order to make this product easily transportable.
The Dragee was born and was called spices.
In 1660, Colbert writes to the King: "Verdun is a big business of Dragees". This product was immediately a great success in the nobility and the bezel was de rigueur for the ladies.

In 1783, simple confectionery created by J. BOIVIN, it became in 1871 a vast factory directed by Mr. Léon BRAQUIER and Mr. Edouard BOIVIN and was destroyed during the battle of Verdun.
The company "La Dragée de Verdun" was definitively constituted on August 11th 1921.

This confectionery has experienced great historical moments as the coronation of Henry III and it was also tasted by prestigious customers such as Napoleon I, Charles de Gaulle, The Prince of Wales ...
Verduners still retain the tradition of handing over a sucker struck by Verdun's arms during a visit by a head of state.

The success of the Dragée is based on traditional manufacturing based on know-how passed down for generations. Almonds are carefully selected and come mainly from Sicily or Spain. The dragee is then covered with a layer of sugar, smooth and hard.
It is tasted plain or flavored according to taste and comes in various colors and shapes.
Dragee is not just almonds, it's also hazelnuts, nougatine, chocolate, liqueur, marzipan ...
